X-rays are not always sufficient for this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The DIAGNOdent\u00ae pen provides new possibilities here:<\/strong> It utilises the different \u201cfluorescence\u201d and density of healthy and diseased tooth substance. The teeth are irradiated with laser light; decayed areas glow in red in this light, whereas healthy tooth enamel appears in pale blue. The values that are determined are also indicated acoustically and digitally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The advantages of the DIAGNOdent\u00ae pen:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-kolling-arrows\">\n<li>We can detect decay without using X-rays (i.e. radiation-free) with the diagnostic camera. This is particularly beneficial for children and pregnant women.<\/li>\n<li>The decay detection is more reliable, and usually occurs sooner than with other methods (X-rays, probing, visually with the naked eye).<\/li>\n<li>This particularly applies to decay in the fissures (depressions in the chewing surfaces of the molars) and between the teeth.<\/li>\n<li>Early detection requires less therapy effort and is a minimally invasive procedure which preserves healthy tooth substance. Smaller fillings are therefore often possible, among other things.
