Treating cavities without drilling<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

There used to be only one treatment method for cavities: drilling! The decayed dental tissue would have to be removed and the \u201chole\u201d in the tooth (the cavity) filled. Even with careful, precise work, there is always a small amount of the healthy dental tissue that gets removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, we use a more up-to-date treatment: The ICON\u00ae method is a gentle cavity treatment without drilling for early-stage tooth decay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This method has been developed by DMG in Hamburg in collaboration with Charit\u00e9 University Hospital in Berlin and Kiel University. Its efficacy has been confirmed in numerous studies. It is used for small and medium-stage cavities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Aesthetic benefits: The start of tooth decay often presents with unattractive white or brown spots on the surface of a tooth. These can be reduced using the ICON\u00ae method.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    How ICON\u00ae works:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    • The decayed surface of the tooth is first roughened with a gel and then treated with a special preparation, called the ICON\u00ae infiltrant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • This penetrates deeply into the pores of the damaged (and partially discoloured) tooth tissue. It fills and seals the microfine holes in the tooth enamel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The cavity is prevented from becoming a hole.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
